Tr[i]ump[h]…do so ent like so.

I pride myself on being an independent and moderate regarding my political views and have voted for candidates on both sides of the aisle in previous elections.

Recently on my Facebook feed, I came across several posts stating that #45 is the most criticised president in history and we need to respect him and the office.

To these folks, I say fuck that and here is why:

  1. Respect is earned not given.  Trump’s first statement announcing his candidacy for presidency contained language that is hateful,  despicable and misguided.  As an immigrant, his first official public statement was a non-starter for me.

They’re sending people that have lots of problems, and they’re bringing those problems with us.  They’re bringing drugs, they’re bringing crime, they’re rapists, and some, I assume are good people, but I speak to border guards and they tell us what we’re getting.

  2. Birtherism: For eight years #45 was a supporter of birtherism and its most blunt spokesperson.  He has not in my opinion wholeheartedly apologised to #44 or the American people for his belief in this conspiracy conjecture.
  3. Fear: Trump is courting our worst fears about people of colour, immigrants and crime.  He’s also cultivating the Christian and the ALT right crowds with his dog whistle of race dominance.  His inability to rebuke the white supremacy organisations in Charlottesville, Virginia for me displayed the iniquitous heart of his purported Christian dogmas.  It’s unfathomable to me how “genuine” Christians can support a person with such a bogus character.

President #44 was by no means flawless.  Some of his policies I didn’t agree with but as a father, man and the leader of the free world he will be judged by history to be more triumphant than #45.

Totally agree the visceral hate and fear mongering that he is spewing and has been from the offset does not command respect in any shape or form. He is constantly polarizing the nation and has proven not to be the president of the United States but only for a few . As the president respect is earned and not simply given because of you title.

My hope is we all use our voice in November to vote for change.
